Last Resort
Are you green? How many flights have you taken in the last year? Feeling guilty about all those unnecessary car journeys? Well, maybe there's no need to feel bad. According to a group of scientists brought together by documentary-maker Martin Durkin, if the planet is heating up, it isn't your fault and there's nothing you can do about it. We've almost begun to take it for granted that climate change is a man-made phenomenon. But just as the environmental lobby think they've got our attention, a group of naysayers have emerged to slay the whole premise of global warming. Hunters Friend
Just watched it... This is a "scientifically respectable" contrarianism - you say very little but imply things. I wondered to myself if others were picking up on this as well. Same thing happened when I watched Farenhype 9-11 (The anti F911 Michael Moore movie) Lots of blabbering about how MM was an idiot, but nothing to back it up. Search some more and find one that shows clear refuted proof and I will listen. Last Resort's head in the sand article Like I said, I don't need Al Gore to convert me. Only the most obtuse would deny that there is something seriously wrong with the weather patterns these past 20 years. I don't know anyone that argues climate change isn't taking place. I know lots, myself proudly included that aren't convinced of the anthropogenic-cause argument. RCH
Just watched it... This is a "scientifically respectable" contrarianism - you say very little but imply things. But what they do say that appears factual, you turn your back to? IE the fact that CO2 levels lag temperature rise, not the other way around. aikenscout
Kinda reminds me of when the whole world was going to end because of freon, R-12. So the politicos banned it. So now many years later, here we are, nothing has changed, no one talks about it anymore. Now it's c02. Well, lets start banning co2. Next who knows what it will be, the "killer" of the decade. Bottom line is people make a ton of money on these things, no matter what it is. Follow the money as I always says............ also wacky weather, one of the causes is the reverse of the el nino effects. I think it's el nina or something. anyways, it's cyclical, predictable weather pattern shifts. Don't buy a ticket to mars or move into a cave in Montana just yet. Maldev
What I find entertaining is the amount of people that claim to be very suspicious of government activities yet are here quoting a politcally based agency that it's own members state has fudged its own membship numbers and qualifications. .054% of a greenhouse gasses are Co2 with the major greenhouse gass being water vapor. Look out...our next ban will be water! What I found most interesting in the first fifteen minutes was that the scientist with the longest record of measuring the greenhouse layers temperature found a complete reverse of what they expected when it came to the surface's temperature increasing at a faster rate than the greenhouse atmosphere. Last time I checked an oven, the oven cooked the turkey, not the other way around.

XUXAW
The simple answer is that we know it is our CO2 because of the isotope ratios involved. http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2004/12/how-do-we-know-that-recent-cosub2sub-increases-are-due-to-human-activities-updated/

Chief Waldo
Back if February, all of the news agencies were going on and on about how warm January was. Now that it's March, where are they after the cold February we just went through? I figured, so how cold was February? So I went to the National Weather Service site to look at some statistics. In the 112 years that weather statistics have been kept, (you know that stuff "Today's high was a record"), January was the 49th warmest (63rd coldest) in the United States. 49th! With 56 being the mean, it wasn't all that warm! February was the 34th coldest (78th warmest). ...and I'm still waiting for all of those news reports on February... Gary2Wheels
.....sometimes it's hard to sse the forest for the trees,in this case I mean the melting of the polar ice at both poles & glacial erosion worlwide.....debating time is over.Time to open your eyes, listen and think about what you observe. The point has already been made regarding the change worldwide in the planets ecology....denial,denial,denial..sorta feels like an AA meeting
Canuck
Like I said - ain't denying climate change - show me that C02 is the cause. And, while I do weld, I'm not a welder so I be lacking any of the theoretical edumication about lots of it. I thought the shielding gas was to shield the molten puddle from 02 (not C02) inclusions, not to trap the heat.

indian T
Too cold for a long time this winter and nothing but "its a weather pattern" from the "warming group". But get a couple of days in the 90's and here we go again...global warming global warming global warming. Get a moderat to cool summer and the "weather pattern" excuse comes out again. seems like the inconvenient truth is also just a convenient explanation whenever there is not a logical explanation for why the weather isn't doing what they said it would (or should). Warming? Maybe...but there isn't (to my satisfaction) a clear, logical, conclusive explanation based on fact. And to the people who think man is responsible...how do you reasonably justify carbon trade-offs? Thats just wierd.
