Maldev
Even when I was lucky enough to have seen part of the rough cut months ago, still with all the blue screen, I was impressed. The movie is nothing short of an event. Frank Miller strikes again.
Pop
Look here y'all. I take a fair amount a time defendin the value of fringe and the appropriateness of it's application on Indian motorcycles. I has been, contrary to RCH's intonations of my prejudices , a participant in public rides with other Indian riders. Some of these riders has not entirely demonstrated a gender preference or at least they demeanor and ummm wardrobe preferences is ambiguous. OK. Pop is not so judgemental anymore. I'm a taxpayer. Pop views other taxpayers as welcome in offsetting his tax burden, so c'est la vie. Ya pays yer ticket and ya takes yer ride. Just don't get any on me. What's my point? Brock, reread the title of this thread. I dunno how ya woulda done it different but I do know a little bit about Sparta on accounta I watch History Channel. I'm just sayin... Brock
naw it was the Athenians and other Greeks that were into the man and boy love....the Spartans considered themselves SPARTANS not Greeks in the larger sense of the word and above everyone else........ they actually allude to their desire to be the super race.....culling babies and training as warriors from youth. I got a feeling it would have been the Chief riders that were Spartans.....and Spirit riders that were the others. LMMFAO Great part of movie....athenians come and ask...WHy did you bring so few soldiers Spartan...we brought three times the men that you did. The Spartan ask him and others what they do for a living...and they answer shopkeeper, blacksmith, artisan, etc. So then Spartan says that even with their thousands.....he brought more warriors and they give a big arroooouuuuph yell.... FUCKING GREAT!!!!

POWER STROKE
Great part of movie....athenians come and ask...WHy did you bring so few soldiers Spartan...we brought three times the men that you did. The Spartan ask him and others what they do for a living...and they answer shopkeeper, blacksmith, artisan, etc. So then Spartan says that even with their thousands.....he brought more warriors and they give a big arroooouuuuph yell.... Hollywood embellishment! The Athenians, as well as most Greek city states had a regular military. Truth is the Spartan leaders did not fully trust the Athenians and felt that the story of impending invasion by the Persian Empire may have been a ruse. If the Spartans sent all available soldiers, that would essentially leave Sparta defenseless. The Spartan leaders only allowed Leonitis to take 300 troops. Leonitis then took 300 of his best that had already fathered sons, insuring that if they did not return, the Spartan warrior society would continue. That being said 300 Spartans were probably the equivalent of a couple thousand regulars. Regardless of embelishments I can't wait to see it, looks intense. Brock
did not deny embellishment...just thought that was a cool part of movie trying to articulate the Spartan belief that they were the only TRUE WARRIORS in the land and three or four of them were worth 10 or more regulars.... I am awaiting the uncut directors version one day soon and maybe they will include the History Channel Documentary kinda like TWFI did by including the documentary on Mr Munroe....
