Hell a few years back Tejas didn't ticket you for an open container, I am thinking they have a law against it now ???

Yeah, I just heard of those. New Mexico is a pretty lax state in many ways & for years drunk driving has run rampant but more so in Albuquerque than down here in the farm lands. Now the state is going overboard to stop it but may have waited too long to see quick results. The states attitude is if you get busted the first time it's not, it's just the first time you got caught. First time offenders have to have, at their expense, a vehicle breathalyzer. I even know a guy that has one on his Harley. Second offense they take your vehicle for keeps & some jail time. I hate to think what the third would be.

What so special here after the price? I'm just sayin, 21 bucks apiece. I used to have some long save the world discussions with toilet cakes and it only cost me 2 bucks a hit.

That's inflation for ya.

Let me say this about Fat Charlie. He is a motorcyle riders motorcycle rider.

He knows his stuff. If he wants it and can't find it - he can make it. A lot of y'all know how dense I am (some know better'n others) when I was at my densest and green as can be with my 2002 PP100 Chief. I stayed a short spell with FC. He was kind enough to offer to put me up on my cross country ride in Winter 2002. He was a real hospitibal guy showing me some of the better riding through Copper Country in Southern NM (around Las Cruces), "Old" NM where the old US Army Forts are and the land that Pancho Villa rode and I believe where they claimed to have gotten "Billy The Kid", and his...at the time - new access to a C 'n' C machine where he made his wheels if I recall.

Well here is what impressed me most about FC. He sized me up pretty quickly, realized I was a "visual" kind of bone-head accountant type so one night in front of his computer he was trying to explain "the curve" to me. At the time there were a few - like Loner1 - in AZ that had broken into the module and changed the chip settings/curve and I was going to visit there shortly - FC was up on all that stuff. He showed me this spreadsheet he had been keeping where he had been toying with various things - I think cams, jetting, timing, curve settings, etc... and then ran me through the most lucid - laymen's description of how an engine works and the ignition timing curve ssociated with the changes. You know now that I am thinking back through the mists...I think he even was using a slide rule!!!! Hell, I barely even know what a sliderule is!!!

Only guy I have met that 1) could explain it so even I could understand it B) 2) patient enough to do so and 3) interested enough to pass on the understanding.

As we got to know each other he even showed me some great old bike mags where some of the bikes he built (I think he said back in the early 70's) won awards and were written up. I wish he could scan tyhem and put them up so we could read the blast from the past - it was cool.

Then we'd go to Choppe's and have a beer or two and flirt with a Senorita.

So - thanks Fat Charlie. Great to see ya 'round here still keeping us on the straight and narrow.

Now - how's that for respecting your elders... :fam24:
