Falcon
Read that GM is considering selling it's Allison division due to it not being part of GM's core products portfolio. One source said that International was the most likely to benefit by purchasing Allison. International is really on a growth curve. They buy Workhorse, form a joint venture with Monaco to build motorhome chassis and now a potential Allison purchase. Wonder how long GM will last without Allison? ANT
This is a horrible move on GM....at the very least they'll lose "bragging rights" (advertising bravado) without being able to offer such a heavy duty trans in their smalled (1 ton) trucks. Granted, they gave up on the heavy rigs and transit coaches years ago but the pickup based trucks along with the larger COE vans use this slushbox. Oh well, and so it goes. aikenscout
How many smart moves by GM do you know of since 1972? And if ya know a few, compare that number to the not so smart ones
bb5703
Catipillar is now building trans for hd truck applications. Some were installed in dade county garbage trucks in 2005. When I retired at the end of 2006 they were still going strong. We were their testing ground. Tranny's and install free. GM seen the writing on the wall.
