Fresh News From the V-Twin Show

Recommended Posts

I arrived to register at the V-Twin show wearing my winter green pants and a Carhart Jacket. It was extremely cold. I was thinking I was slightly overdressed, since everyone was in blue jeans but then I noticed two jokers in front of me wearing kaki pants and white shirts. I made a comment to one of the guys that he was the only person in the building wearing a white shirt and then I saw that his name tag said Bill Melvin.

We talked for two hours. Wow! I could right a book about his stories of buying and selling Gilroy Indian assets. Bill did say something that I had to ask three times to make sure I heard it right. Bill claims that Stellican gave up 40% of the shares to get that 30 million. I am wondering if this is really true. I never met Bill before but I did not get the impression that he was totally informed. I am only telling you what came out of Bill’s mouth. He says he has a barn full of Indian drawings and computer software that he claims is his property. (Another example of sloppy CMA policing of the mark).

He had a booth and was selling a 2002 Indian Chief that he wanted $23,000 for. He changed his company name from National Retail Liquidators to JG Resources. His son was manning the booth, which happened to be 20 feet from our booth. I have lots more to tell but its midnight and I just returned. What a show it was and what a fantastic thing it is to be in the retro motorcycle engine manufacturing business.

Nothing happening there my friends. See my post in other thread regarding my visit.

Looking forward to hearing about the rest of the journey.

I wish you were there. It was a blast. You should have seen that 260 cubic inch V-Twin and Gates 158 cubic inch V-Twin. Frank had his 120 on display and a new 110. I cannot tell you what happened to us or I would be blasted for marketing our stuff. Call me.

And if you do PM him, talk nice. Pop ain't no lightweight hisself, but the waitress called me the little guy when she took our order.

A course she also tried sweettalkin us by tellin us the steamers wuz so good she took a bucket home regular and had at 'em in her bathtub. That's the New England swamp yankee version of a hot tub and oysters onna half shell.

Unlike California girls she didn't have no silicon in her tits, but she did have knee high Sorels that made me swoon.

John--there are a few other sites that would REALLY welcome your info.

DAMN--we want the rest of the story!!!

I will submit a report in the marketing section and then get permission to print it from Maldev. If he allows it to be printed then I can let the cat out of the bag. For now, we must wait until the censors consider what I wrote. I have not even finished it yet so perhaps we can see some real info by tonight in the marketing section. Otherwise, we can post the news some place else. This is my home Ed, I wear the IIRA badge and regardless of what everyone thinks, I feel like I contribute here and bring value as well as receive some. I am an active member of the largest Chapter. I will post here first if I can. I feel somewhat sensored and walk on egg shells thinking that I will step out of line and be banned. Its not a good feeling. I like it here but freedom is not the feeling one gets on this forum anymore.

Ed, I love you. You have more class then these guys know. I feel responsibile for your recent inability to renew your membership. I think that you riding the Crazy Horse has caused you more pain then good. It has caused you to be attacked and your response has been normal for a man so disrepected. Show them that you have more class then they do. Lighten up and get back here. Hand them the olive branch and lets hope they accept. It will be a shame to lose you. I would be happy to sponsor a meeting face to face.

Hey John.

No worries on my membership renewal.

I'm with the lone Wolf Riders and that's where I want to be.

I'm also looking at a few other options as far as riders organizations go.

Seems even that rejection of renewal was kind of a strange deal--and from what I've been told it is being looked into.

The Washington Chapter you ride with?

Is that Bruces bunch?

All of them I've ever met seem to be really good people.

Hell most of the members of the IIRA I've ever met are good folks

I'm hoping to get some riding time in with the Seattle bunch this summer.

Hey--a face to face meeting?

Branson is coming up shortly, and there should be an oppurtunity to do the face to face thing.

This time though I'll be sure to have witnesses when I talk to or even get near cerain people--no misunderstandings that way.

As far as riding the Crazy Horse bikes?

You name the time and place you want it ridden to--I'll ride it there.

NO ONE tells me what I can ride or where I can ride it or what I'm supposed to think of it.

Seems I read on here that at least one other person who rode the Thunder Dreamer has the same opinion of it I had--KICK ASS RIDE!!!

I'll give you a call this afternoon--but as far as the parting of the ways the IIRA and I have had?

Nope--no concern of yours--I'm totally responsible for my own actions.

Tell ya what, I'll be a neutral observer/recorder/clerk/note taker for any conversations in Branson that may be subject to misintepretation or controversy. All ya gotta do is get my ass and bikes out there.

p.s. I wouldn't stir the pot, trust me.

If you would have seen the 158 cubic inch Gates you would see that 124 as just a start. What an engine and what a bike it was in. Wow!

Pictures?

I'm not entirely sold on huge engines anyway. Far too many compromises when you're trying to up the displacement with only two cylinders. It becomes big for big's sake, not because it's better - like a Boss Hoss.

Somewhere there's an ideal maximum displacement determined by bore size and stroke, which are in turn determined by flame travel and piston forces/speed.

Thank you.

aren't there cooling problems with the rear cylinder on huge cubes??

eric

Thank you too.

A certain engineer who's initials are ALAN SPUTHE took one look at the Viper engine (a sorta billet version of the PP100) and stated to me "There aren't enough fins on that to cool more than 20 horsepower"

He made milk come out of my nose....and I was drinking coffee at the time

Alan was a rock star at the show. His dead pan humor had me laughing all the time. Our booth was constantly visited by the who's who of the industry, most of them limping with age and wounds from bike crashes. It was an honor to be next to Alan at the booth. Next year will be even better. Next year everyone has to come. It was as fun as Branson but like going to a Globe Awards Party. So many dynamics. It was so packed. We need to place some pics of the girls that were walking around that show. America is alive and well in Cincin. The V-Twin Show is a must see for those that love the V-Twin. Passes for all next year.

I wish I could have made the show, But only so much vacation time a year.

Glad it was a positive experience for all, I have a question reguarding E.P.A & C.A.R.B.

As an engine supplier Chevy, Ford, etc all have to comply with said regulations as do Harley, Honda, etc.

Does Crazyhorse with thier V-Plus fall under the same criteria??? I know S&S does, But they are selling a la rge amount of mills a year, Is this something that a customer such as myself should be concerned about when choosing an aftermarket mill????

Yeah I asked that on the Crazy Horse Forum - let me check if anyone answered me....

Nope - no reply. Would be good to know though. With my luck with motors I may need one and would like to be able to get one.
