LittleDanielle
http://forums.officer.com/forums/showthrea...age=1&pp=25 I came across this through a friend of mine who also rides, this link is an actual police message board. I know the majority of the post itself is about "stunt" bikers, but then it goes on to talk about how everytime he is on duty and sees a bike he profiles them basically. We have been having a lot of problems with cops like this one in our surrounding towns. One town goes through as much trouble as setting up ROAD blocks and pulling over every bike that goes through checking their pipes to make sure they are not too loud. Falcon
Nothing like a squid. But then, here's a great example of why some cops have real issues with sport bikers...http://www.break.com/index/copbike.html
Gary2Wheels
.....just one quick story of a personal note.In 1984,I got into a wreck on my '81 Virago.....totalled the bike, after a dame ran a stop sign, then slammed the brakes doin'a lefty into her driveway.I rear ended her & wound up in the back of her ranchero.Cop arrived..wrote ME the ticket. When trial time came, the town had removed the stop sign, cop lied after taking the oath, and everyone had a good laugh at my expense as the bitch turned out to be the town clerk. So much for the law.....FUCK 'EM
Pop
Probly around the time that 335 had a little twinkle in the eye that wuz to be Danielle I wuz livin in the 06zip. On Rt 66 over towards East Hampton me and a handfull of guys got stung in a trap which a kind citizen alerted us to with the flashing headlight warning. We hit that hill under the limit but he wuz already headin for the road motioning us off the side. So we wait behind another pack of riders pulled over while they wait for him to quit rousting a single rider. Whenever he finally got to us, and after he called the hook on me for illegal handlebar height on top of speeding and no signal lights and failure to follow the commands of a police officer and Bobs yer uncle, he 'splained to us that down at the Colchester barracks we wuz the mosquitoes and him, he was the fly swatter. I got swatted for five benjamins that sunny day and it wuz a cheap education, the lesson of which Pop has never forgot. These days from time to time I rides with some good old fellas that carry a badge but Pop knows damn well where bikes fall in the pissin pile. LittleDanielle
I also wanted to add in a little tid bit about the CT United Way ride in September of '05. We were in a police escorted ride of about..... 500-1000 bikes would be a good estimate. Some dumb ass rich bitch pulls out IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Right out. Poor kid swerved so that he wouldn't get hit. Goes down. Bike falls on him. Ends up with a broken leg, broken collar bone and a totalled bike... In a POLICE escorted ride... IT TOOK THEM A GOOD 10-15 MINUTES TO RESPOND!!!!!!!!!!!!! What the hell?!?!?!

Colorado Rider
I was on a congested on-ramp trying to get on to a backed up interstate during rush hour. This type A bitch thought she didn't need to wait like the rest of us and pulled into the emergency lane of the on-ramp and starting passing everyone on the right. Saw an opening (that would be the space I was occupying) and without taking the cell phone from her mouth proceeded to wedge her Audi into my rear fender. I was calm, got off the bike and walked over to her rolled up window. She was still talking on the phone looking straight ahead. I took out my multi-tool and tapped on her window to get her attention. She asked me what was my problem. Using some very colorful language I asked her where she learned to drive. She said she was calling the police and I said fine. Cop shows up and gives me grief for calling this lady an asshole. Mentions how he would never own a motorcycle and that they shouldn't be ridden in such traffic. Yeah, he had a flat top. He said I should have saw this lady coming and moved up to let her in. Cited me for reckless driving. $140.00! Went to traffic court and the city attorney offered to plead down from four points and a moving violation to two points and a non-moving violation. I didn't accept the plea. Went to trial. Judge read the report, noted I was on a bike and asked me if I wanted to remain and listen to him chastise the officer and city attorney. I told the judge that wouldn't be necessary and he recommended that I stay and listen. He ripped the officer and the city attorney new ones. He then apologized to me for having to appear in court and dismissed the charge. I thanked the judge and he said I was welcome and that something like this would not happen in his court in the future. Got the fender and one saddle bag replaced courtesy of the bitch's insurance. $1600.00! She was pissed and couldn't believe it cost that much to repair my bike. The adjustor laughed about her tirade and wrote me a check. Moral to this story? There are assholes out there, but if you're lucky and go the course the system might check itself in the end. Ride Safe!

Gary2Wheels
....ALMOST makes me feel OK about cops. They're people on the inside..just like you 'n me,good ones 'n bad ones. There's a bad one name of Kortright in the NYS Troopers...would'nt piss on him if he's on fire.On the other hand another trooper was real good to me when I was broken down on the Thruway.Seems like it's always a toss of the dice..... zoom
I work with LEO's everyday from various agencies. I have learned NOT to stereotype them as most are good people but some are @ssholes. Many local officers ride and are lenient and considerate when it comes to bikers. Just my thoughts.
Eraserhead
I've always had good luck with the coppers. Most ride or know riders and are just looking out for our safety. As for targeting loud pipes, they are just following orders, not that I agree with it, but money talks and that community doesn't understand the pleasures of biking. Just my .
Furyous
I got to say, so far I have been lucky. I have had bad times with cops in my car but never my bikes. Most cops I have met have been cool, the only exception I can think of is San Bernardino PD, corrupt bunch of fucks but with them finally voting out the corrupt mayor a few years ago maybe they will clean up their act. firebird77clone
I always wave at the cops. I personally hope that the day will come when they have to pull me over ( I drive too fast ) and they will remember the guy on the Chief who always waves at them, and will at least have some idea that I am not the 'bad guy' you see on Cops. anyway.. I had a positive experience with a cop in Cali. you may remember having read about it in Smokesignals.. anyhoo.. I run into this guy in the local biker bar, and lamented that I didn't have my Chief to putt around on, and he offers me his extra scoot: this little Honda something. So we go bar hopping, curving the twisties, etc.. and I RUN OUT OF GAS. Dam. It is night, and dude just kept going. Well, I am flagging people down, and wouldn't ya know it, the second one I flag is A COP. I smiled, and told him how glad I was to see him, that I had borrowed 'Dude's bike, and ran out of gas with him leading, and he just kept going. Just about then, I realize I don't even know if this scoot is insured, and don't even know dude's last name! Cop never asked, just gave me a lift to the nearest gas station. I had to buy the gas can, and donated it to the cop for the next dumb-ass biker out of gas. Anyway, just as I am filling the bike, here comes Dude, up the OFF RAMP! cop just turns around and says: " I know he is just coming to help you out, so I'll pretend I didn't see that". So.. they aren't all pigs. If ya keep that in mind next time you have to deal with one, things might go a bit better. No promises though. Remember this. SMILE. Elephant
Some ( a small minority ) Police may be out to get us, most of the deputies that I have had the misfortune to work with are great people. Ride a day in their shoes. As a fireman, I have assisted our local enforcement folks to put Aircrash, Autocrash and Bike crash fatalities into bodybags. It sucks. They do have a tough job. No one ever calls 911 to say, "I've got a half empty keg and I need some one to help me drink it." No, folks call 911 when they're having one of the worst days of their life and are unable to solve it themselves. JUst like thanking your local veterns, try thanking a Law enforcement officer for their service. The good ones will appreciate it and the occasional asshole may be inclined to be nice to the next biker who comes along. I just wish that the guys I know would put straight pipes on their bikes at work. I can never hear 'em comin' up behind me...
