September 02, 2005Hurricane Katrina: "It's All Bush's Fault" Says Liberals

Enough already.

For all these people who wouldn't blame Clinton (or any Democrat for that matter) for his biggest self-inflicted debacles sure know how to direct blame for everything on President Bush--and whitey.

This has gone beyond absurdity, and represents a deeper problem. It's all too easy to suggest that President Bush is too blame for the levees breaking, for not funding infrastructure improvements, for this, for that. If the critics who suggest that Bush should have known about the levees, might ask why not did the cities protected by levees do anything?

They blame Bush for the economy (which is doing fine, by the way), they blame Bush for 9/11, they blame Bush every single thing that goes wrong. "He should have known!" they say, or even better, "he knew and did nothing!" It's page one of the play book.

Go ahead and continue your scapegoating, that won't change the facts. Go blame the federal government for not fully funding hurricane and flood projects in New Orleans, and feel free to continue to balk at suggesting that the state of Louisiana find the money in their budget. No one is blaming the Mayor Ray Nagin and the city of New Orleans.. of course not. That ties into the story angle with Hurricane Katrina... the race baiting. Just look at the Washington Post article that says post-Hurricane Katrina imagery is like a "desperate echo of a bygone era." I've heard black commentators and program callers on the radio all too often suggest that New Orleans is being ignored because its large black population, and are quicker than lightning to blame President Bush. No one wants to lay blame on the black mayor of New Orleans for not protecting the city that is 70% black because someone sent out the memo to blame whitey first. It's the Democrat strategy to blame everything on "racist white Republicans" so that come next election, they can coax black people into voting Democrat because those rascally Republicans are racists. Even Mayor Nagin himself lashed out whitey last night.

Nagin's interview Thursday night on WWL radio came as President Bush planned to visit Gulf Coast communities battered by Hurricane Katrina, a visit aimed at alleviating criticism that he engineered a too- little, too-late response.

Bush viewed the damage while flying over the region Wednesday en route to Washington after cutting short his Texas vacation by two days.

"They flew down here one time two days after the doggone event was over with TV cameras, AP reporters, all kind of goddamn--excuse my French everybody in America, but I am pissed," Nagin said.

Nagin said he told Bush in a recent conversation that "we had an incredible crisis here and that his flying over in Air Force One does not do it justice ... I have been all around this city and that I am very frustrated because we are not able to marshal resources and we are outmanned in just about every respect."

What the hell have you done Mayor Nagin, besides bitch and whine and complain? The problem started when your gross incompetence as a leader led to the failure of local government and law enforcement to provide any assistance. The state of Louisiana has also failed, what has the state done? Did they fund any hurricane and flood protection programs? Liberal columnists already on the "blame Bush" train add Congress to their hit list, and complain about budget cuts and pork-barrel programs for "highway bill that included more than 6,000 pet projects for lawmakers." Last year, the Army Corps of Engineers sought $105 million for hurricane and flood programs in New Orleans and Congress approved $42.2 million. Why didn't the state pick up the rest of the tab? If other government programs got more money, perhaps the Congressman from those states who benefited are just better Congressman, but no one will blame Louisiana's Congressman for not fighting for more money, and certainly no one is blaming the state legislature for not appropriate some of its $15 billion budget to subsidize the rest of the hurricane and flood programs. Nagin failed his city. The state government failed Louisiana. Once the big bad "white Republican" steps in, the scapegoating can begin.

And if it's not the relief effort they complain about, how about blaming the hurricane itself on President Bush. There is not much lower to go. These foolish attempts to blame Bush for everything are futile, and stupid. Get over it already. This is time for all of us as Americans are supposed to come together, not be driven by racism (the anti-white racism) and partisan bickering. Relief efforts are not instantaneous, and patience is required. Stop blaming Bush, stop blaming whitey, and use that energy towards the relief effort and rebuilding.

UPDATE: Patrick Ruffini has a great piece cataloging the callousness of left wing bloggers regarding Hurricane Katrina relief.

UPDATE: Drudge Report links to an aerial photo of New Orleans school buses in a flooded lot (photo mirror here) and asks "WHY DIDN'T YOU DEPLOY THE BUSES DURING THE MANDATORY EVACUATION, MAYOR?..."

UPDATE: Jesse Jackson continues the race baiting...

Racism is partly to blame for the deadly aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the Rev. Jesse Jackson said, calling President Bush's response to the disaster "incompetent."

"Today, as the President comes to Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi for his ceremonial trip to look at the victims of the devastation, he would do well to have a plan more significant than a ceremonial tour," Jackson said Friday.

"His whole response is unacceptable."

Bush has acknowledged that the federal response has not been acceptable, but promised that the government would get supplies to survivors and crack down on violence in New Orleans.

Jackson questioned why Bush has not named blacks to top positions in the federal response to the disaster, particularly when the majority of victims remaining stranded in New Orleans are black: "How can blacks be locked out of the leadership, and trapped in the suffering?"

"It is that lack of sensitivity and compassion that represents a kind of incompetence."

UPDATE: If you still need more evidence of the race baiting in Katrina's wake, just go to Zebrality, and watch actor Kanye West say during a Hurricane Katrina Relief Show on NBC say "George Bush doesn't care about black people. They're saying black families are looting and white families are just looking for food..

Interesting reading.. Long but interesting..

Both of these articles were written awhile ago..  reading them now, sounds like a few of the big brain types had a feeling something might happen.. neither have any political slant to it..  Strange thing is.. doesnt sound like shoring up the levy system alone would fix the problem...

There are 3 kinds of people in this world

1. Those that MAKE THINGS HAPPEN.

2. Those that WATCH THINGS HAPPEN.

3. Those that ask (bitch) about WHAT HAPPENED.

Move the guard out and the few workng people left there. Let the looters and bangers stay, and PRAY for one more big wave.

Don't you know Bush and Cheney sat around their crystal ball and conjured up that storm, knowing that it would wipe out 25% of our oil production, then they would become gazillionaires through the rebuilding of said system!

I read it on the net, so it must be true!

BTW, I am proud to say I am a conservative republican!

Do for yourself, before you expect others to do for you.
