Firefinder
Guys and gals, I just got power back today because of that bitch Katrina. I've read some interesting posts and some in my opinion are wrong and some are right and some are both. I don't have the energy to engage in the debate...maybe later. Anyway, I am fine. My family is fine. my house is fine. I have been taking part in restoring order, and now the cleanup is about to start. I work about 14 hours a day and haven't had a day off since the storm. Don't know when I will get one. I've been shot at, I've shot at and I've rescued. This is a great city, this is a disgusting city. This city is full of whiners and full of hero's. I hope I have the time to tell you folks what is really going on down here, but not right now because I need sleep. I'm going back into the city in the morning. Don't know if I'll be feeding or killing. Either way it's a good day. Oh, and by the way. Hundreds died because help came way to late. I'm not talking about those needing rescuing on roof tops, because that is thousands. I'm talking about the bodies on the streets and convention center floor who died because we had no food or water to give them. I know I saw it. I'll leave it to yall to debate whose fault that is, because right now I don't care. I suppose later I will, but now I'm going to bed. . Talk to yall later. homer
Hey Dan...was good to talk to you the other day...It's hard to hear the horror stories that the few are making--like you said--some people are just evil...i've got some of those to share with you when this is all over. it amazes me that some of the people there and on the outside don't realize the enormity of the situation, and are more interested in personal gain or assessing blame than fixing things. i too have some rough days ahead and don't have the energy to debate things. it's good to hear the stories of heroes and grateful people who lived thru the horror of this event..We both have family, friends and people we don't know from just west of new orleans to florida and north up in la and ms that endured alot. some think that the other areas are forgotten--this isn't so. in fact we'll be able to help those areas alot faster than the harder hit areas. katrina was a mean bitch--the rest of the country will realize just how hard when the trickle down effect is fully seen. hope your family adjusts well to the changes coming up. eric

Firefinder
Thanks Gar and you are right. Two police officers have committed suicide since Katrina rolled through. 150 police officers are still unaccounted for. Many have just quit, but I'm sure many will be found dead in their homes if ever found at all. On the bright side, New Orleans is currently the safest city in the world. NOPD, NYPD, LAPD, Orange County SO and many other departments from across the nation. Federally, ATF, DEA, US Marshall's, ICE , Coast Guard, La, Ark., Tx. National Guards, USMC, 82nd Airborne from Brag. This is how you treat a national disaster....just a little sooner. Thanks to everyone. I have pictures, but I know I can't figure how to post them. Thanks for all of the prayers and well wishes. Hey Fireman Dave, thanks for the offer, it means a lot brother, but we now have more help than we can shake a stick at. Homer thanks for everything. Years ago,I read a book called Zen Mind ,Beginner's Mind,by D.T.Susuki.He said ..' in the mind of the beginner there are many possibilities. In the mind of the expert, there are few.Always be a beginner....'.That thought has helped me get through many a day.Be well, man.
