I'm in Ft. Nelson, BC right now. Only mile 300 of the Alaska Highway. I had planned to spend an extra day here but my hopes of riding up to the Northwest Territories today were dashed when I woke up to more rain. It rained pretty much all day yesterday, too. Cold rain. No sun, just clouds. Throw in a stiff wind and the chill factor gets really nasty. Drank more hot coffee yesterday than I can ever recall. At least it didn't hail. The sun came out this afternoon so I decided to wash the Squaw Magnet. She was dirtier than I have ever seen her. Took before and after pictures to document it. An hour after I finished cleaning her up, it started raining again. It's still raining right now. Are you beginning to sense a theme here? Oh well, at least I found a store in this town that sells Cubans. Even got the chance to see the new Harry Potter movie at the local theater last night. A bit of a surprise as this town is pretty small. I didn't expect it to even have a theater.

I've only got about 200 miles to go tomorrow to Liard Hot Springs. It will be a pisser if I have to set up the tent in the mud but, on the other hand, it might be fun to soak in the Hot Springs during a driving rain. We'll see how it goes. Bike's still running well. although the turn signals stopped working after the washing. Rode it around for awhile to let them dry out and they started working again. Then it started raining and they stopped working. There's that theme again.

Gotta go. It's time to watch Detroit finish off the Lakers. Game will be joined in progress after the big debate of the candidates for Prime Minister. Sure is a different mind set up here. Here's the slogan of one of the leading candidates:

"We can keep Canada green and be prosperous while still assuring that no single person has to fend for themselves." That's the pioneer spirit. The other candidate is catching shit for wanting to maintain a civil relationship with president Bush. At least they've got Cubans to smoke. Talk to you later
