crying in the wilderness
(John 1:23 KJV) I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord…
While John was certainly someone preaching in the wilderness or desert place.
What he was saying (in my opinion) is, "I am the voice, not the one, but the voice of the one (God) who is crying out in the hearts of people where the place (the heart) is void of the presence of God.
Webster defines wilderness as, a tract or region uncultivated and uninhabited by human beings.
The wilderness John was referring to was, the heart of man uncultivated and uninhabited by God.
God says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. He says, I love you, I have a plan for you, I want to help you, and I want to bless you.
I am calling you. Call on me I will answer.
I will be found of those who seek me. I am not hiding from you.
All who seek with their whole heart will find.
Come to me with the idea of leaving everything else behind to get to me, I will be there. That is repentance that word people don't like, it is just coming to me, leaving all else behind.
You think it means to leave all that means life, but when you find me you find life, Eternal Life and that abundantly.
I am a giver, you give me your life I will give you my life.
That is what will bring you true riches. Peace, joy, and right standing with me.
I took the first step of faith; I gave you my Son believing you would believe in him and what he did for you.
Will you not take a step of faith toward me?
(Heb 3:15 NIV) "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts."
(2 Cor 6:2 NIV) "In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation.
I believe these are the kind of things God is saying to people of the world today.
Can you hear him tugging on the strings of your heart?
