Made it back to the Bay Area without too much trouble today. I did just barely get the bike started this morning as the jump starter had just enough for one last start. Also had a little trouble starting the bike up after lunch. Pushing in the plunger on the solenoid wasn't doing the job but I discovered that hitting the start button did. I thought the starter relay was dead but now I believe that it was a faulty kill switch. I'd seen some evidence of this before but it hadn't been a problem until now. It is also very possible that this bad kill switch was the cause of the bike backfiring and dying yesterday. Don't know but, given this and a sticky horn switch and an iffy left turn switch, I think it's time for a new set of switches. Anyway, it's good to be back. I'm smoking my victory cigar while I wait for the hot water to heat up so I can take my first shower at home in over 6 weeks. Got lots of pictures to post when I get a chance and some rest. Damn, what a ride!
