Got the UHaul loaded and going around 5PM yesterday. Just kept driving until I was out of Alaska around 2AM, then pulled over and slept in the cab. Customs didn't even make me open up the UHaul to look inside. When I rode into Canada on the Squaw Magnet, they made me pull over and I was stuck there for about 45 minutes. Go figure. Stopped in Tok last night for dinner. The fire I rode through last month is now so big, it is easily visible from Tok. Alaska has run out of firefighters. The restaurant where I ate was full of out of state firefighters lending a hand. It's still early but this is already the 3rd worst fire season in Alaska history. Had a hell of a shock today when I filled up the UHaul in Canada. First time in my life I paid over $100 for a tank of gas! 30 gallon tank and gas is about $4 a gallon, Canadian. I know that works out to less than $100 US but it was still a shock to see the bill. At about 11 miles a gallon with the UHaul, this is going to hurt.

Stopped by and saw my buddy Dave at Chilkoot Choppers when I got to Whitehorse. Had a couple of hard lemonades while I told him my sob story. He said he'd heard stories of how bad things are in Anchorage before but this was, by far, the worst story he'd ever heard.

Well, at least I can smoke Cubans again for a little while longer. I have 11 days to turn the UHaul in when I get back so I decided to pitch the tent at the campground in Whitehorse and get a good night's sleep. As opposed to when I was here last month (over 100), the weather is gorgeous. I'll be back in British Columbia tomorrow where I'll probably just UHaul ass until I get back to the lower 48. Should be home (knock on wood) late this week. I can't fucking wait! Talk to you later.
