Science and Religion

Arthur C Clarke

"But I am quite serious about the profound philosophical importance of the search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI); this may be its supreme justification. The fact that we have not yet found evidence for life – much less intelligence – beyond this earth does not surprise or disappoint me in the least. Our technology must still be laughably primitive; we may well be like jungle savages listening for throbbing of tom-toms, while the ether around them carries more words per second than they could utter in a life time."

I believe this shows that man is searching with his ear what can only be heard with his heart!

Can you hear him? He is calling you.

Arthur C Clarke was speaking about voices that the natives were not able to hear because they lacked technology to hear the radio, television and satellite waves all around them.

What I am saying is that humans have the inherent equipment to hear more than what their ears can hear.

Picture a table with seeds on it.

Now as you look, you see a tomato seed. What does it say to you?

Without a voice you can hear with your ear, it says to you; "I'm a tomato seed. I will give you tomatoes, nothing but tomatoes. If you put me in the ground I will give you a harvest of ripe, red, juicy tomatoes." It has a voice of it's own.

God is speaking to you right now. Can't you hear him? "Come to me." Can you hear him? He is calling you! "Believe in me." He believes in you. He trusted that when you heard the message of his love for you that you would believe it. It is with the heart that a person believes and is made right with God. Believe what? The gospel message of the son of his love. The price he paid to ransom you. Hear him as he says, "I love you, I want you, I have a plan for you, you have a purpose, you are valuable to me."

He is speaking volumes more. Can't you hear him? He is calling you.

"Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, for the life of your soul is at stake. I am ready to make an everlasting covenant with you. I will give you mercy and unfailing love.

My thoughts are completely different from yours, and my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts."

Seek the Lord while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near. Yes turn to God, for he will abundantly pardon. Who will believe the message? To whom will the Lord reveal himself?

(Jer 29:11 NIV) For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
