Science and Religion

Science and Religion   Arthur C Clarke "But I am quite serious about the profound philosophical importance of the search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI); this may be its supreme justification. The fact that we have not yet found evidence for life – much less intelligence – beyond this earth does not surprise or disappoint me in the least. Our technology must still be laughably primitive; we may well be like jungle savages listening for throbbing of tom-toms, while the ether arou

Ole One Eye

Ole One Eye.       I used to work on a ranch. The ranch consisted of 23,000+ acres. The largest and most unimproved pasture was 10,000+ acres with no cross fence.   It was rough woods, palmettos, pine trees, sugar sand ridges, ponds and creek swamps, and Live Oak Tree hammocks. It was Florida at it’s richest.   One day I was driving north bound on a right of way we had built which was one of two separate roads Billy and I had built through the north south portion of the rough

A story about a Horse and a Motocycle

I use to ride a horse, she was fast, turn on a dime, follow a cow, cut one out. Great when you were doing that. But great day in the morning! Most of the time we were just walking along trying to sneak up on a group of cows and this horse was dancing and prancing the whole way. She had a lot of bells and whistles but I wouldn't ride her. I will compare her to a fast sleek rice rocket. I don't care to ride one of those either. I don't mind if someone else does. Just not for me.       Then th

I some times wonder

I Some Times Wonder   I some times wonder what God has in store. I very faintly see what is close at hand, I see clearer what is on the other shore. With eyes of faith I see streets of gold and other sites still left untold. I see myself standing on a mountaintop in glory, looking out over great, great distances, for hours maybe eons, just looking, looking in awe, enraptured awe.For now I must live here trusting God for what I cannot see knowing he really does love me. I don't kn

Love. What will it cost you.

Love. What will it cost you.   The apostle Paul states "The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love."   When I read that tonight I began to think, wow Paul. You raised the dead, cast out devils and healed the sick. You wrote two thirds of the New Testament and preached the Gospel to the known world. Had incredible visions, and caught up to heaven and you say; "The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love."   I remember the Lord saying, "

Self-Control versus Will Power

There is a difference between “self-control” and “will power.”   At this time in my life I am just coming to understand the difference. While I don’t think I have a full understanding of the subject I would like to relate what I am learning.       Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit; will power is a work of the mind. That is not to mean that will power is bad, just that there is no life or not much good that it does for our spiritual growth. Spiritual growth would naturally come fr

This morning in prayer

This morning in prayer what a refreshing word I heard from the Lord.   I have been concerned about bills, and my job has been kind of hectic lately. Also my dad has been in the hospital. So all this together has been weighing on me.   The word that brought peace to all of this was actually two scriptures. One has been rolling around in my head for a couple days; I just couldn’t get a hold of it.       (1 Pet 5:7 NIV) Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Your Faith 2 Cor. 1:24

2 Corinthians 1:24 But that does not mean we want to dominate you by telling you how to put your faith into practice. We want to work together with you so you will be full of joy, for it is by your own faith that you stand firm.

Tongues Question

I don't hear tons about the gift of tongues. Probably because it is prevalent among those I am closest too. I would like every one of you to speak in tongues. (1 Cor 14:5)   If you don't it doesn't affect my love for you. Not everyone does, although I would that every Christian did.   The apostle Paul addressed a problem in the Corinthian church, which does not mean every church had the problem. It does not in any way insinuate that the gift of tongues was a problem in the other church

When you find yourself all muddy

Just because you fall into a mud puddle with pigs does not make you a pig. Even if the pigs seem to accept you.   You are a child of God! The righteousness of God in Christ. When all of heaven looks at you it is not your filthy rags (our good or bad works) they see. It is his righteousness that is seen. All heaven sees his wonderful, awful, work of salvation; so that we are the righteousness of God in him. His works are displayed to show that he is a righteous judge, a righteous God, a good

you have been called by God

Ephesians 4:1 and 30 (NLT)   1 …lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.   30 … the Holy Spirit is the one who has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.

crying in the wilderness

(John 1:23 KJV) I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord… While John was certainly someone preaching in the wilderness or desert place.   What he was saying (in my opinion) is, "I am the voice, not the one, but the voice of the one (God) who is crying out in the hearts of people where the place (the heart) is void of the presence of God.   Webster defines wilderness as, a tract or region uncultivated and uninhabited by human beings.

A Story about a Friend

I'd like to tell you a story about a good friend I had and loved dearly.   I met Jimmy Bass on a summer day in 1980. I noticed as he walked from his car to the truck we where to be using to load poles on that day he had a very short haircut and had tattoos on both arms. ( the hair grew longer as time went on and the tattoos began to cover more area) I was a 1st step apprentice and he was the Journeyman Lineman on our crew. We hit it off immediately I was fresh off of a cattle ranch I had bee

The Last Sacrifice

I heard a story some time ago about the Passover celebration the Hebrews used to observe while the Temple was still standing and would like to relate it here as best I can remember.   As the Passover was nearing, people form all over the country would begin coming into the city of Jerusalem. The city would swell with people. Every room would be full; every family would have relatives staying with them. People would cut palm fronds and pine boughs and stack them in front of their residence or

What God Wants You to Know

What God Wants You To Know! Faith in God is real. Hope in Christ is well founded. God loves you immeasurably. He wants to be your friend. He wants you to be his companion. He wants to walk with you. He wants to talk with you. He wants you to come to him. He wants to bless you. Because he loves you… so very much!   Why did He come? To give you a new life… Eternal Life. How do you come to Him? Just as they came in the Bible, with

The greatest miracle I ever saw!

The greatest miracle I ever saw!   One day John and I (a new Christian) were in our work truck waiting for quitting time to head in.   John had been a drug addict and that is another miracle he could share more fully with you.   Any way we were sharing a few scriptures (doing a few lines of scripture) with one another when some one came walking by my side of the truck. I role down the window and with a loud voice say   "I have some good news for you!"   He a

I am a Witness

I am a Witness I testify that God loves you. He paid a tremendous price to be with you; So you can be with him. I believe Jesus was born of a Virgin. His life mission was to reconcile man to God. I believe He bore the sins of the world, Then died on the cross. I believe He was buried, And paid the price for my sins, Then rose from the dead three days later.
